After a successful legal career, Scott Gilly embarked on a path of entrepreneurship
that has proven to be incredibly engaging and rewarding. He founded Cedar Hill Ventures, a
company under which Scott has pursued a multi-faceted career of venture investing,
consulting, founding and incubating multiple cloud-based technology platforms that target
inefficiencies in mature industries as diverse as the legal, real estate, and leisure sport
spaces.
Among Cedar Hill Ventures' portfolio companies was DirectDep, a cloud-based technology platform for law firm professionals to instantly book court reporters for depositions and other litigation support services in real-time, 24 hours a day. After founding and leading the software company, Scott exited that business. Another early stage investment Gilly made through Cedar Hill Ventures was Zya, Inc. a $40-million venture-backed music and entertainment technology company in California, which has launched the musical emoji and text messaging app Ditty, as well as the mobile musical creation game Zya Song Battles. Scott served as a senior operating executive during the company's most critical phase, helping lead its venture capital raise and the prosecution of more than 25 patents protecting its innovative and complex intellectual property portfolio. He was also the Founder and CEO of Pivot Management Partners, an innovative executive search business responsible for identifying, recruiting, and onboarding hundreds of executives across a diverse range of industries.
Scott earned his A.B. from Harvard University, where he was Captain of the Basketball Team. He received his J.D. from Catholic University, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. He remains active in the Harvard alumni community, having served as a Director of the Harvard Alumni Association and an Executive Committee member of the Board of Trustees of the Harvard Club of New York City. He is also heavily involved with the Friends of Harvard Basketball and the Harvard Varsity Club.
The Gilly family lives in New York City, while spending as much time on Nantucket as their busy schedules permit.
